Russ Berger, FASA
For nearly five decades, Russ Berger has been a driving force in the design of world-class audio recording, broadcast, television, and entertainment facilities. As President Emeritus and a current board member of Russ Berger Design Group (RBDG), Russ remains deeply involved in projects, offering invaluable insight and mentorship shaped by a lifetime of creative and technical expertise.
A musician, engineer, and former studio owner, Russ brings a rare perspective that bridges artistry and engineering. This unique combination has made him a trusted consultant on more than 3,000 projects worldwide. His portfolio includes acclaimed facilities such as National Public Radio headquarters, Whitney Houston’s personal studio, NFL Films, Sweetwater Sound, Sony Music, Lakewood Church, Belmont University, the Ryman Auditorium, and studios for artists including Kirk Franklin and Steve Miller.
Russ’s commitment to excellence has earned him eight TEC Awards and broad industry recognition. A longtime member of leading professional organizations, he has served on the Board of Directors for the National Council of Acoustical Consultants and was among the first licensees to perform TEF (Time Energy Frequency) measurements. In 2007, he received the prestigious Heyser Award for his contributions to audio engineering.
A sought-after lecturer, Russ speaks regularly on topics ranging from small-room acoustics to facilities planning and audio monitoring. Outside of work, he enjoys scuba diving, reading, cooking, and traveling with his wife Elisa, daughter Danna, and son-in-law Tyler—ideally to a remote island with great diving and a good book in hand.
