Trilix Studio

Trilix Studio is a one-of-a-kind creative production facility housed in the iconic Crescent Building at the foot of the Sherman Hill neighborhood in Des Moines, Iowa. Born out of a passion for music and a love of storytelling, Trilix Studio was designed by the acoustical thought leaders at Russ Berger Design Group and outfitted with the latest equipment from the experts at Sweetwater Integration. The facility is equipped to serve musicians and marketing clients alike with a unique mix of classic analog and digital technologies. Every material selection, layout and amenity were selected for one purpose: to achieve the most refined sound experience possible.

The studio is a 3,400-square-foot facility comprised of four distinct spaces able to cater to various creative needs. Each space is meticulously crafted with a strong emphasis on acoustical design to ensure superior sound quality.

Designed for music production, Studio A is a spacious control room that spans over 550 square feet. Equipped with a state-of-the-art 7.1.4 Dolby Atmos® Genelec® speaker system, the studio offers immersive, three-dimensional sound clarity. An integral part of this studio is its Iso Room, a sanctuary for artists with natural light and a view into the control room. Design and acoustic treatments in both rooms are optimized to minimize sound reflections and interference, providing a pristine listening and recording environment. The studio features a blend of digital and analog recording equipment, including a digital S4 control surface and a 16-track 2″ tape machine, along with top-tier compressors, EQs and preamps like Rupert Neve, BAE, Classic API, and UA’s tube classic 610. All are specifically curated to ensure the finest sound reproduction and recording quality and some vintage audio charm.

The second isolation room is a 175-square-foot space perfectly suited as an additional tracking studio with a view of the control room as well. It can also accommodate several podcast guests in a roundtable or relaxed lounge-style configuration. Studio B is equipped with state-of-the-art recording technology and is acoustically treated for optimal sound quality. These features make it a great complement to Studio A and a useful stereo listening room.

Planned for the ultimate audio-visual experience, Studio C is ready for video editing, audio mixing and color grading with the added dimension of Dynaudio 5.1 surround sound. At 225 square feet, this studio is not just a utilitarian edit suite; it’s a mini theater, built to provide a distinctive ambiance reminiscent of a private screening room.

Studio D, the live room, is just shy of 1,000 square feet, which allows a whole band to play together, or it can be used to isolate a grand piano and more. The room is equipped with track-mounted white, black, green, and blue curtains able to be positioned for any shooting need and sound control. Aputure Nova P600c lights are mounted in the pipe grid, and a full production offering of equipment is at the ready. Studio D also includes a large cyc wall that opens up endless possibilities to create immersive environments.
